Why do you need a T1?
You will need a T1 Customs Document when:

Goods arrive from outside the EU/UK and need to move across Europe before being customs cleared.

Shipments enter the EU through one country but are cleared in another (e.g. arriving via Rotterdam but cleared in Germany).

Moving goods under bonded transport (not yet released into free circulation).

Shipping via multiple EU countries where customs clearance is only at the final destination.
Example:
Your goods arrive in Rotterdam port from China but the buyer is in Poland. Instead of paying import duty in the Netherlands, a T1 is raised so the goods can move under bond to Poland, where customs clearance and duty payment take place.
Why is a T1 Important?

Keeps shipments compliant with EU customs regulations.

Protects your cargo under the official transit procedure.
Without a T1, shipments can be stopped at the first EU entry point and duty would have to be paid immediately.
Who Can Issue a T1?
A T1 can be issued by Customs authorities, registered Freight forwarders (like us) and agents with access to the NCTS system.
It is important to realise that not every haulier can issue one, you need an authorised party, like Scanlon Freight, to do this on your behalf.
